"STEPPING STONES"
Dear Lord please always let me see
In everything befalling me
A spark of light that I may know
That through it all you will it so
May every silent pain I bear
Become for me a golden stair
That rises high above the woe
Our human hearts were meant to know
May every little heartache felt
Each disappointment roughly dealt
Uplift my soul that I may be
A fire that brightly burns for thee
And through life's waters dark and deep
May thy blessed presence keep
Afloat the boat in which I ride
Until I reach the other side
For I am but a timid soul
In need of thy dear hand to hold
Ever trusting Thee to lend
The strength on which I can depend
Amid the trials thou has sent
However plaintive my lament
I know my tears, and sighs and groans
Are only little stepping stones
